A story with no pictures

I want to make sure this is documented so I ( I really mean, Henry) never forgets the things I did for him. About a week ago, while Henry was napping, he removed his diaper. (See where this is going? ) Christina, the sitter, and I weren't aware of this. But when Christina went to get Henry from him nap, she discovered what happens when a 17 month old sleeps with out a diaper.

I was interrupted from my work day with Christina saying, "Oh my goodness. Um, Brooke, um, wow, Oh my gosh, Brooke, ummm I think Henry needs a bath."

I went into the room and say the disaster and gagged in my mouth. Henry pooped all over and then proceeded to smear it EVERYWHERE - - him, his crib, the crib rungs, his stuffed animals... you name it, it had poop on it. My first thought was not to run him to the bath room and clean his feces off his face, feet, hands, stomach, and legs... but instead, to get the camera so I could blog about it! I held back my urge and saved all of my blog readers the pain of having to see how much poop I am actually talking about - take my word, it was a LOT.

Henry got the bath of his life and his room got crazy disinfected - and after only a week of living in it! Can't wait to tell this story to his future girlfriend. Then, I will really regret not having pictures!

Craft Table

I always wanted to get Henry a little craft table and chairs, but never had the room. Until now! Now, we can seriously start talking some crafts, coloring and painting - - all the things I loves to do and hope Henry will take a liking to, too. So far, he loves to color and is quite good!

When Henry sits at his craft table, he looks like such a big boy. And you can tell he feels like a big boy, too. What happen to my baby?! (At 17 months, he's getting in 3 more teeth - two incisors and one on the bottom... finally, more than 4 teeth!!)

Henry's new digs

Henry is really enjoying his new house and his new play areas. (So is mom!) He went from having the smallest room on Earth to a palace, fit for a king! We made his room so it was fit for not only sleep, but also play. We are still figuring out how to "live" here, but a few things are for sure - Henry and Henry's things rule this house too. And I wouldn't have it any other way. It's such an awesome feeling to have a home of our own and know this is the place where our son is going to grow up, just like his daddy did (he's even in the same room!)

Moving Day

On Sunday, 9/19, we moved into our new house: 30 Delaware Rim Drive. This "new" house, was actually grandma and grandpa Garlits's old house and the house the Brian grew up in. They lived here for 27 years. When Brian and I were dating he would tell me it was his dream to raise his children in this house. Now, here we are - - how exciting to be a part of his dream and help make it come true. Before moving in, we spent three months doing some updating/renovations to make it "our home". We took down all the wallpaper, painted all the walls, re-did all the bathrooms, put in new tile floors and new carpeting. We are so happy with the results and Henry LOVES it! For the first week he ran around the place like a mad man. He didn't know where to go first or what to do next. The transition went great - he sleeps even better here than he did at the other house. And he was a great sleeper there, too!

AC Boat Show

We took Henry to his second, in-water, boat show - his third boat show in total. And this was like the 6th boat show we have attended with the Palskys - - a tradition, I'd say!

At the end of the day, Brian and I realized that in-water boat shows and babies do not mix. All the boats are down on the docks and the safest way to transport Henry was in his stroller. However, Henry wasn't a fan of this - he wanted to walk. He got angry with me for not letting him walk, but little did he know that if mom let him walk, he would actually end up swimming.

So, instead, Christina, Chase, Henry and I hung out on the deck and listened to the band, drank some beer and fruit punch and enjoyed the sights and sounds while the dads looked at boats.

Helping mommy pack

We've started packing up the house to move into our new home in mid-September. As you can imagine, Henry is incredibly helpful with this process. Especially since his favorite game is removing items from boxes or dumping boxes out once they have been filled.

Playground

I've always known about the Buttonwood (or as I like to call it, Buttonnose) Park in downtown Yardley, but I never thought about in the context of taking Henry to play there. Boy have we missed out - it's the perfect size playground for a 16 month old. He loves it and it is just a short walk down the canal to get there (and then only a couple more minutes to Yardley Ice House!). Last weekend we made a family event out of it - we walked to the park, worked up an appetite, then went to Vince's for pizza and meatballs and the Yardley Ice House for the world's greatest ice water and custard. Being able to walk to these places is the thing I'll miss most about where we live now.

Vacuuming

Henry loves the vacuum, but on his own terms. If I try to vacuum with him in the room, but not letting him hold the vacuum, he freaks out. If he is holding the vacuum while it is off and then I turn it on, it scares it. So in most instances, I hold him while I vacuum, then I turn it off and let him do some house cleaning, too. I guarantee you, once the kid is old enough to really vacuum, he won't have any interest in it anymore.

Carousel Ride

The Grange Fair not only has animals, it also has rides! Henry saw the Carousel and insisted we go for a ride (by pointing and signing for "more") [Henry signs for more by pointing is index finger in the palm of his opposite hand. He does this for everything he wants ... to go outside, to get something off the counter, for more food, etc., etc. ]
This Carousel went a lot faster than the one at Sesame Place and he sure did get a kick out of it. While we waited for it to start, he bounced up and down trying to get the horse to "giddy-up". Once the ride started, he squealed with excitement and had a huge smile on his face throughout the entire ride. It's moments like that I never want to end and never want to forget.

Grange Fair 2010

Henry attended the Grange Fair twice this year - once with Grandma Holzapfel and again with mom, dad, and grammie and grampie Garlits. last year, Henry went when he was 4 months old, he was completely clueless to the events surrounding him. This year was much different. I couldn't believe it had been a year, already. I vividly remember last year thinking how fun it would be to take Henry when he is a year older. He loved looking at the animals but wasn't a fan of being confined to his stroller - when we let him out he ran around enjoying his new found freedom. We had a great day, seeing animals, shopping in the tents and enjoying the day!
